Cumbria Humanist Group
Members’
Discussion Group
Studio
Room, Morton Community Centre,
This will be the first meeting
we have held at the new venue and Group members will have the opportunity to
register as members of the Community Centre.
The new Executive Committee
met on Tuesday for the first time since the AGM and discussed a wide range of
issues, including future meetings, the production of CHG literature (at the
moment we use documents supplied mainly by BHA central and the North East
Humanist Group), publicity and recruitment policies, Group involvement in local
policy bodies, relations with local press and other media, and so on.
We would now like to invite
members to give us your views on these subjects. We have meetings planned up to June, and the
annual dinner will be in December. We usually have an outdoor meeting in
August, so that leaves four months for us to consider and all ideas are
welcome.
Humanism covers a broad
spectrum of beliefs and values and our membership is spread across this
spectrum. It is important that our
activities cater for the range of members’ views and interests, for those who
see the group as a source of fellowship shared with others of similar beliefs
and also for those who seek to be more proactive in challenging the power of
established religion in the government and structures of our society.
We hope that you’ll come along on the 20th and
share your views with us.
